As of June 1, 2005, CEIF is no longer accepting requests for feasibility studies and start-up operating grants for Nativity/Miguel or Cristo Rey schools. The foundation is devoting its resources to programs sponsored by the NativityMiguel Network (www.nativitymiguelschools.org), and the Cristo Rey Network® (www.cristoreynetwork.org). Since 2000 CEIF has supported 58 Nativity/Miguel initiatives, with a total commitment of $9.6 million, and has contributed $12 million towards the creation of the Cristo Rey schools. The Cristo Rey Network® has 19 schools currently and plans to open at least another three schools in 2008. CEIF has been pleased to play a role in the creation of the Nativity/Miguel and Cristo Rey schools. We urge other foundations and philanthropists to join the movement.
